The uncontrolled spread of nonindigenous species continues to be an important concern for the marine industry studies of the impacts of the spread of nonindigenous invasive species are frequently published. In response regulations mandating the treatment of ship’s ballast water have been promulgated. The ballast water treatment market and regulatory framework for compliance continues to expand with new ballast water management systems being developed.
